Classic Design

Höfner has been building electric guitars and basses in Germany since the early fifties. While these vintage Höfners are increasingly attracting the attentions of guitar enthusiasts & collectors, the current Höfner electric guitars and basses are becoming the number one choice of professional musicians the world over.

The excellent workmanship & superb tone of Höfner jazz guitars make them the ideal guitar for todays jazz player. Years of research & development have gone into making these guitars work in a modern loud musical environment with minimal feedback, the Jazzica Custom model has soundhole dampers, and collaboration with top artists to acheive a balanced, even tone ensure your expression will shine through. The flagship Chancellor guitar is handmade using solid highly figured flame maple & close grained spruce. The back & top are hand carved & tap tuned while the solid maple sides are hand shaped. The neck is carved with an asymmetrical shape to give that comfortable, played in feel right from day one. With ebony fittings & our exclusive violin spirit or natural cellulose finish this guitar looks as great as it sounds & the use of solid woods means it will keep maturing & improving the more it's played.

Our semi-acoustic guitars evoke the past but keep in mind the requirements of the modern player. The Club 50, favourite first guitar of so many 60's guitar heros, with it's natural finish body & black neck take you straight back to the beat boom days & Hamburg clubs. The Verythin Classic with it's innovative 'Clear Contour' wiring allows for both a full bodied humbucker drive or a biting singlecoil sound without the need for extra switches. & with a hand carved spruce centre block you gain sustain but lose the tendancy of this style of guitar to feedback at high volumes.

Much has been written about the Höfner violin bass & with continuous production from 1956 this bass is one of the few guitars available today that can trace it's origins back to the very beginnings of Rock 'n' Roll. The current range reflects the bass in all it's forms from the early bass with black bar pick-ups, the mid sixties 'Beatle Bass' and the later DeLuxe model with it's exotic bird's eye maple finish & gold plated hardware.
