Of all the Hofner artists featured here one stands out above the rest. Paul McCartney has played a Hofner bass since 1961. Paul has owned various Hofner basses over the years and still plays his violin bass today.

2006 was the 50th Anniversary of the Violin bass, it was first introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Music Fair in 1956 and to commemorate this Hofner produced the limited edition 'Anniversary Bass'. A copy of Paul McCartney's first bass the '61 or Cavern Bass as it became known this bass features close pick-up spacing, solid hand carved top, original vertical logo and comes in a special tweed covered case with signed certificate of authenticity.

Bass number 1 of the limited production of 150 was presented to Paul McCartney.
